One thing leads to another

One thing leads to another

At the basis of both life and architecture is that "one thing leads to another". This is a very powerfull statement or principle. In life, you start doing something and by doing something, you start doing other, related things. This is in a very free format way.

For instance, if we look at Edwinno... I think of a nice type of music and going to youtube I find related music video's that influence my choice for another narrative of Edwinno. Starting at "one thing", we create a snowball effect. And this can be done from a myriad of starting points. This is also, once you start, why life will never be boring really, if this is the way you live. And it is the way that I live life.

How architecture connects to this ?

It is much in the same way, the big difference being that architecture is documented and that the format to do this is much more limited or fixed, really. That which is documented implies that related things will be documented, according to some pattern. Since architecture is the stable part of the system, that what we document should better be the right things.

If not, if we make failures, all other documentation that follows will be at fault. So we must ensure that the architecture is right or the systems that we build from it will not satisfy the clients' needs.

If we view it as the art of perfection, as I describe it, then at Wiki you will find the folllowing explanation: "A difficult-to-define phrase in the Spanish arts that connotes emotion and authenticity". Clearly, this closely relates to the competencies of the architect.

Change Management

Change Management

Recently, I read an article written by Atos Origin. It had to do with Change Management.

Let me try to explain.

Usually, architects design the current and the future state of architecture. Or, in other words, the "as is" state, and the "target" state, as well as the roadmap to move from the current state to the future state. This movement implies change in all views of Process, Organization and Technology, where Technology includes Applications, Databases and Hardware.

Gaudi in Barcelona

Gaudi in Barcelona

Architect and designer, Antoni Gaudi is the most internationally prestigious figure in spanish architecture.
Born in Reus, in Catalonia, he graduated in Barcelona in 1878 and this city became the center of his activities. One important aspect is his capacity as designer.

This led him to create, in close collaboration with some of the very fine artisans of his time, all those elements making up architectural space - wrought iron, furniture, stained glass, sculptural work, mosaics, ceramics and so on - within an organic concept of decoration and with the integration of these elements into the construction process.  The sea landscape was one of his most preferred inspirations.

Simplicity defined

Simplicity defined

In my life I have been reaching out for the beauty of simplicity, which continues to drive me and my passions in life.

My thoughts have been influenced by many a philosopher, architect, artist or statesman and I would like to share some of their sayings that are profound to me - and I am endowed to them.

Ann Change and Lost
25 May 2017
Well, my plans changed today or should I say they were cancelled. I sat lost for a few hours, lost in thought, lost in the moment. It was a lovely thing. I realize I can change and go forward with some nice freedom, inspired by this story. I stopped a moment and wrote this comment and now I go.

Ann Clinic Rules

good rules vs bad rulesFollowing rules was extreme programming from infancy for me. First rule: You are here to help your mother, You are the servant of your family. I was taught to be an adult as an infant and only recently found the un-nurtured infant inside. In finding my infant I was able to stop crying for what seemed to be no reason. I have learned through much therapy that some rules are a method of abuse. I have learned to use better judgement in following rules. Some rules are for our...
